Haria Beaches

Famara

La Santa
La Lagunais an artificial lagoon surrounded by a fine white sand beach and safe calm waters. It is situated next to The International Sports Hotel and Training Centre Club La Santa, a world famous Sport Resort.
Near to the lagoon is a rocky beach, which has waves perfect for surfers.  Swimming is not recommended due to the strong currents there.  To the east, there is a small beach called Caleta de Caballo, which is also perfect for surfing.

Caleta de Famara

The beaches to the north of La Caleta de Famara are made up of a white sand and are very scenic. The darkened cliffs of Riscos de Famara provide a stunning backdrop. The strong wave breaks make them an attraction for surfers.
There are strong sea currents to be found in the waters however so it is best advised to swim and bathe at your own level. The Playa Ensenada is to be found on the shoreline of the village and is another sandy beach well frequented by sun worshippers.

Playa La Canteria

Just north of Orzola is Playa de la Canteria, a fine brown sandy, beautiful beach but does have big breaking waves, making it a bit hazardous for swimmers but makes it popular with local surfers, especially when the wind comes from the south.
Situated in Órzola, on the back side of the impressive Famara cliff, this is a stunningly located beach where there are also volcanic caves which can be explored.

Directions: It's a little bit tricky to find: Head into Orzola and at the T junction take a right turn, then about 100 metres later turn left. Keep on this road as it becomes a dirt track and this will bring you to beach just by the cliffs.

Services: Parking

Playa del Risco

A bit further to the north, beneath the Mirador Del Rio, is Playa El Risco. This might just be the wildest beach on the island and it is tricky to access: by boat from Orzola or by coming down a cliff path close by Guinate Tropical Park which takes over an hour and could be considered quite a hike, especially on the uphill return journey

 Playas Caletones

There are in fact three separate main beaches here, along with a couple of sandy coves which are collectively called the Caletones. The most popular is the Charca de la Laja. This beach has white sand and a natural lagoon where the water is not deep, created by volcanic outcrops where you can enjoy year round bathing in warm waters - a rarity on the island because of the normally chilly Atlantic waters.

Other popular small beaches in this collective coastal strip are Caleta del Mero, Las Cocinitas and Caleton Blanco. These beaches are popular at the weekends, so expect plenty of caravans, campfires and picnics.
